The office Neuland ArchitekturLandschaft was founded by Maria Viñé in September 2012. It consists of an interdisciplinary team of architects, landscape architects and urban planners who work on a range of tasks at different scales in urban as well as rural and natural contexts.

With the background of interdisciplinary team composition, we assume an interlocking relationship between the disciplines of architecture, urban planning, and landscape architecture. Urban space and landscape, buildings and gardens are perceived in their spatial quality and examined to develop a strategy for the inherent problem and address the contemporary challenges of the climate’s changes. We see our task primarily as consolidating and further developing the qualities of open-space structures to transform and interconnect places and at the same time strengthen their identity.

The contrast between processual changes in our landscape environment and constant, robust structures forms a field of tension we are particularly interested in. The differentiation between permanent architectural components and lush natures that change over the course of time and seasons is a recurring design theme in our projects. The interaction between given frameworks and those that change over time allows the necessary space for places to be appropriated collectively or individually. The quality of public space, especially in view of the increasing density in cities and agglomerations, is of great importance for functioning community life and fostering livability in that community.
