Flux landscape architecture is a landscapedesign office based in Utrecht. At Flux, we design resilient landscapes: layered, liveable and ready for a variety of scenarios. From regional landscape strategies to urban parks and public spaces.
We approach landscapes as living, dynamic systems. By observing, questioning, designing and testing, we deepen our knowledge and refine our concepts. This inquisitive approach helps us to make the right interventions at different scales. Thoughtful spatial design as a response to tomorrow’s challenges.
Our focus is on structural transitions: climate adaptation, biodiversity, quality of life and the changing relationship between people and places. We unravel complexity and seek coherence. In this way, we design robust landscapes that make a real contribution.
Flux was founded by landscape architect Gerwin de Vries. The team consists of 25 designers with backgrounds in landscape architecture and (urban) design. Gerwin won first prize at the International Archiprix in 2006, received a start-up grant from the Fund for the Visual Arts (2007) and was nominated for the Prix de Rome in 2014. Flux is active in education at HKU Spatial Design in Utrecht and the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam. Our work is regularly featured in national and international publications and exhibitions.
