PLANORAMA Landschaftsarchitektur is a team of landscape architects, architects, urban designers and engineers who are all committed to the high-quality design of our living environment. Founded in 2006 in Berlin, the team now consists of over 40 employees and is led by founder and owner Maik Böhmer and his four associated partners. In addition to the head office in Berlin-Wedding, branches are currently maintained in Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Bamberg.
The core of PLANORAMA’s work is the sensual experience of nature and landscape, an intensive examination of detail, simplicity, clarity and the connection to real materials.
With know-how and great enthusiasm, PLANORAMA designs and develops sophisticated object plans in a landscape architectural context, which usually result from successfully completed planning competitions. The special nature of each site is taken into account in the design approach, as is the examination of sustainable solutions and climate-relevant issues.
With the claim of complete handling from the first creative thought to the last stone on the building site, PLANORAMA usually works on its projects as a general planner.
One of the first and most important office projects was the Rheinboulevard in Cologne-Deutz, which was awarded the German Landscape Architecture Prize of the BDLA in 2017 after almost ten years of planning and construction. In parallel, PLANORAMA redesigned the market square in Mönchengladbach-Rheydt, which was also honoured at the German Landscape Architecture Award.
In addition to large-scale projects in urban spaces, smaller projects with challenging tasks also attract attention. These include the sculpture garden of the Museum Berggruen at Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin and a house garden at Griebnitzsee in Potsdam.
Two state garden shows are currently underway in Furth im Wald in Bavaria (opening in 2025) and Bad Urach in Baden-Württemberg (opening in 2027). In recent years, the garden shows in Wassertrüdingen in Bavaria (2019) and in Eppingen in Baden-Württemberg (2022) have already been held successfully, and their sustainable design continues to leave its mark on the localities to this day.
In addition to garden shows and parks, urban squares and station areas with sophisticated and complex mobility structures, as well as riverbank areas, have emerged as further focal points. These include the Hahnplatz in Prüm in the Eifel, the station forecourt at the Ostkreuz in Berlin and the redesign of the banks of the Rhine river in Bonn.
