For centuries, humans have ruled over nature. But the picture is beginning to change. A new era has begun, where the Earth speaks back to us in a language we no longer recognize. Climate-induced sea level rises, storm surges, supply crises, and dried-up landscapes have become the new normal.

Schønherr wants to be part of the solution to these significant and interconnected societal challenges. Therefore, we prefer to transform the existing rather than build new and clean up landscapes instead of building on them. In short, we work to reestablish the balance between nature’s heritage and the cultural heritage of the future.

Schønherr assists private customers as well as state and municipalities, both domestically and abroad, in creating new value. This value arises when, with a basis in innovation, practical knowledge, and architectural beauty, we plan and design beautiful and robust cities, adapt them and the open land to climate changes, develop cultural environments, and find space for more biodiversity, nature, and renewable energy.

At the same time, we focus on creating measurable effects and added value for customers, local communities, ecosystems, nature, and society as a whole.

We simply call it ‘Sense and Sensibility’.

SCHØNHERR’S VALUES

AESTHETICS – attachment to the place and the sensory experiences that go beyond functionality.

SUSTAINABILITY – consideration for nature, the environment, and resources as the cultural heritage of the future.

INCLUSION – supporting dialogue and involvement across users and builders, cultures, and disciplines.

Schønherr’s employees are the core of the studio. Through professional knowledge, dedication, and close collaboration with other professional groups and the client’s own organization, they look across the interests and demands related to the assignment and always find new opportunities and new values. They understand how to navigate through the many and complex issues related to urban and landscape analyses, strategies and plans, financing, process design and involvement, communication, architectural design, project planning, and operational plans.

The studio is led by partners Nina Jensen, Rasmus Stougaard, and Rikke Juul Gram. The company is continuously developed in cooperation with an engaged board of directors and a group of associate partners, who as specialized professionals contribute to ensuring the studio’s high level of knowledge.
