Challenging ourselves towards a better world
Being a landscape architect at Tengbom means coming to work every day ready to challenge given truths and perceptions. Our own just as much as our collaborators’. Why? Because if we want to help our clients make the world a better place, which is what we aspire to do, pushing boundaries is a basic requirement. Together, we aim to design beautiful architecture for a sustainable world. Spaces and solutions that don’t just do what they are supposed to, but that enrich people’s lives, develop our society, and strengthen our clients’ business – all at once.
Co-creation is key
Tengbom is one of Scandinavia’s leading architecture practices. Founded in 1906, we have more than a century’s experience in helping our clients face current challenges. Today, our fifteen offices stretch from the north to the south of Sweden and across the Baltic Sea to Helsinki in Finland. We believe in collective intelligence and curiosity: the more initiated perspectives, the better the solutions. It is only in collaboration with each other, our clients, and stakeholders that we can create truly innovative landscape architecture.
Our mission: restorative solutions
The challenges facing our society today calls for rapid and extensive development of the urban environment. As landscape architects, it is our mission to find solutions that aren’t just resilient and sustainable, but restorative over time. Solutions to battle the effects of climate change and to preserve our biodiversity. To optimize land use in qualitative ways, as our cities expand and become increasingly dense. To counteract segregation and inequality.
Every day, we push ourselves to find the smartest and most effective solutions for each specific challenge – be it using vegetation to create a certain microclimate or developing a new equality certification system for public spaces. Either way, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and Sweden’s environmental goals and climate ambitions are vital starting points.
A brief summary of what we do
Our team has experience within the entire spectrum that is landscape architecture. Our portfolio spans from collaborations on a large scale – urban development, education and office collaborations, as well as several complicated heritage projects – to smaller projects such as planting design, calculations, site inspections, stormwater management and landscape maintenance plans. We perform all types of analysis, from child impact assessments and social impact assessments to landscape-, cityscape- and cultural environment analysis, as well as citizen dialogues and R&D projects. We are also well-versed in reuse, LCA, and mass balancing, and frequently work in close collaboration with ecologists. In 2022, we launched the world’s first equality certification system for urban environments: JämtJämlikt.
That being said, we are more curious about you, your challenges, thoughts, and ideas. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you.
