Exit Paysagistes Associés: The project creates a luminous volume you can see from the Avenue de la République in the daytime and at night. The tunnel’s envelope made of stamped stainless sheet steel adopts the light variations of the city and establishes a lightning continuity from the street to the tunnel. The luminous volume is created by the projection of lights on the envelope of the tunnel and by the reflection of the lights and colors of the city inside the tunnel. This envelope expresses a simplicity that decreases the technical aspect of the bridge. The luminous volume is also produced by a game of contrast with the immediate accesses of the tunnel. The road under the bridge is made of sparkling asphalt in the aim of contrasting with the black asphalt outside the tunnel. Also the smooth and luminous facade of sheet steel inside contrasts with the outside dark and granular facade. The close accesses of the bridge most of the time stifled of advertisement and road signalling system have been cleared and gave back the perspective of the Avenue de la République.
