Juhani Pallasmaa (b. 1936) is a Finnish architect, theorist, and educator whose writings have deeply influenced architectural and design thinking. His seminal book The Eyes of the Skin (1996) argues for a multisensory understanding of perception, embodiment, and the body in architecture. A prolific author and lecturer, he has written extensively on cultural philosophy, existential space, and environmental psychology. Pallasmaa’s work critiques the dominance of vision in design and calls for a more tactile, phenomenological approach.
