Caitlin Atkinson is a photographer of spaces, places and all things botanical. She grew up in a small town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. A childhood spent amongst trees, mountains and rivers instilled a love of the natural world. She conceived of the book and photographed Under Western Skies: Visionary Gardens from the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Coast (Timber, 2021). She was the photographer for the books Dry Gardens: High Style for Low Water Gardens (Rizzoli 2018), Designing with Palms (Timber, 2018), Air Plants: The Curious World of Tillandsias (Timber, 2014) and Plant Craft: 30 Nature-Based Projects for Your Home (Timber, 2016).Caitlin’s photographs have appeared in national and international magazines including: Gardens Illustrated, Elle Decor, Dwell, Martha Stewart Living and Architectural Digest among others. When not photographing landscape architecture or gardens you can find her digging in her own patch of dirt.
