The Master of Landscape Architecture at UTS provides students with the opportunity to collaborate alongside celebrated practitioners from award-winning international design studios and leading experts in the area of urbanised landscapes. The degree provides countless opportunities to experience the unique character of Australia’s varied landscapes, home to the world’s oldest continuous living culture.

Students in the two year professionally accredited course engage in a variety of projects based on the big questions that face global contemporary cities and landscapes: urban densification, climate change, declining resources (land, food and water) and the loss of biological diversity as a result of ecological fragmentation and habitat destruction. Graduates are well-equipped to tackle contemporary issues through an expanded understanding of the most relevant and up-to-date methodologies, tools and technologies. By building advanced specialist knowledge, UTS students graduate with the skills needed to design and advocate for landscapes in local and global contexts.

The degree welcomes students with undergraduate degrees in landscape architecture or study in a related built environment field. Pathway options are available for those from non built environment or design backgrounds.

Two intakes each year: Autumn (February) or Spring (August).

The course is accredited by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA).

Students who do not meet the admission requirements for direct entry into the MLA are encouraged to apply for entry into one of the following pathway courses:

Graduate Certificate in Landscape Architecture

Graduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture
