The Department of Landscape Architecture, Campus Weihenstephan, invites applications for the position of a

Professorship in “Sustainability, Design and Construction in Landscape Architecture”

(salary group W2, tenured position)

expected to start in the winter semester 2025/2026 or later.

Responsibilities in Teaching and Research:

The professorship of “Sustainability, Design and Construction in Landscape Architecture” occupies the interface between planning and construction and defines the framework in which the green building of the future will be possible in research and teaching.

The interface between design and construction is a central and indispensable topic in the training of landscape architects and landscape engineers.

The professorship ‘Sustainability, Design and Construction in Landscape Architecture’ is therefore centrally integrated into the Bachelor’s degree programs of the Faculty of Landscape Architecture as part of undergraduate teaching.

The main areas of focus are:

– Building with renewable raw materials

– Building with living raw materials / plants

– Evolutionary design and construction

– Life cycle assessment-based design and construction

– Circular construction

– Socio-centered construction (building with laypeople, empowering young people, etc.)

The teaching performance must be incorporated into the undergraduate courses offered by the Faculty of Landscape Architecture. Further teaching input into the Master’s programs, some of which are taught in English, is desired.

An active involvement in applied research, the supervision of internships, projects and theses as well as participation in the university’s self-administration are required. The adoption of related teaching content is desired. We offer an interesting field of work at the interface between applied research and practice-oriented teaching with the opportunity for independent further development of the subject area.

Your Profile:

You have a degree in landscape architecture, landscape construction or a related field with a corresponding focus.

You acquired several years of professional experience in landscape architecture and are well versed in the disciplines of design and construction.

Furthermore, you are an expert in application-oriented research in the university or non-university sector.


– completed first university degree,

– pedagogical aptitude,

– particular ability for scientific and scholarly work as proven by a doctoral degree or comparable academic qualification (in German: “Gutachten über promotionsadäquate Leistungen”).

– Furthermore, we require expertise in the application or development of scientific findings and methods obtained during a period of at least five years of professional practice after graduation from university. Of these, at least three years must be in a field outside university. Professional experience outside university might be recognized, if the candidate has spent a significant part of the position working in a cooperation between university and non-university institutions for a minimum of 5 years.
