We’re looking for graduates and post-graduates who have the curiosity, creativity and courage to take ordinary spaces and turn them into something truly joyful – people who want to be part of an established, independent and exciting collective where your ideas, skills and unique contributions will always have a place. Working as part of our dynamic studio in the centre of Bath, our projects span from the creation of strategic visions and concept designs through to delivery of award-winning schemes on site.
As one of the biggest independent landscape architects in the UK, Macgregor Smith’s designs have been capturing people’s imaginations for over 30 years. And while we’re proud to have built a beautiful legacy, we know that the future will be shaped by the next generation of designers and creative thinkers; that’s why we’re all about sharing our knowledge, nurturing new talent and giving landscape architects from all backgrounds a place where they can feel at home.
We love what we do, and we’re excited about passing on everything we know to the next generation of groundbreaking landscape architects. Our Pathway to Chartership mentoring scheme has an excellent track record because of our commitment to helping others learn, grow and achieve their chartered status – and we do this through dedicated mentoring schemes, study groups and Continual Professional Development sessions, which range from talks by external industry speakers, to internal project-sharing sessions and specific software training. All our new graduates also get teamed up with buddies to guide them through the initial learning process and help them on their way to becoming confident, qualified landscape architects.
The joy we put into our designs starts right here in our studio. Because we believe in creating and maintaining a positive, supportive and inspiring working environment, we’ve always got something going on alongside our day-to-day work – whether it’s tea and cake in the office, summer picnics and day trips, or setting time aside to explore our other passions.
If you are creative and enthusiastic about delivering imaginative design, we’d love to hear from you. Alongside good written and communication abilities, you should have a keen eye for detail, display strong 3D visualisation skills and have advanced competency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (inc. InDesign), SketchUp and ideally Lumion. BIM / REVIT knowledge is desirable and whilst not core to our work, some knowledge of LVIA would be beneficial.
Macgregor Smith is an equal opportunities employer. As a practice with an international perspective and pride in our European centred culture, we welcome applications from the EU where the applicant has the right to work in the UK. All candidates’ written and spoken level of English must be fluent and a clean driving licence is preferable.
Please send your application to firstname.lastname@example.org.
