IFLA Europe has opened its call for extended abstracts for the IFLA Europe Conference 2026, to be held in Riga, Latvia, from 2 to 6 September 2026 under the theme Landscape in Transition: Reimagining Resilient Futures. The conference will also host the IFLA Europe General Assembly, the organisation’s governing body, in its final days, from 4 to 6 September.
The call invites researchers, practitioners, educators, policymakers, and students to submit original research, professional projects, case studies, educational initiatives, or policy work under four thematic tracks. Shifting Grounds covers climate change, biodiversity loss, and ecological resilience. Shared Places addresses social interaction, equity, and community building in landscapes. Patterns of Change looks at technological and economic transformations shaping contemporary landscapes. Memory of Places focuses on cultural landscapes, heritage, and identity.
Extended abstracts should be 1,000 to 1,500 words (excluding references), written in English, with a minimum of five key references. Submissions must represent original work not previously published in substantially the same form and are submitted through the Oxford Abstracts platform, which requires advance registration.
