Franz-Josef Höing is Chief Planning Director of Hamburg. He will give the opening address.
Höing studied spatial planning at the University of Dortmund. From 1994 to 1999 he had an assistant position at the Technical University of Vienna and then until 2000 at the RWTH Aachen University. From 2000 to 2004 he was personal assistant to the then Hamburg Senior Building Director Jörn Walter, where he had led the HafenCity project group. From 2004 to 2008 he was working as a professor for urban planning at the Münster University of Applied Sciences. He then became senate building director of the City of Bremen. From 2012 to 2017 he was the head of urban development, planning and construction of the city of Cologne. In November 2017, he took over the position of Senior Building Director in the Hamburg Department of Urban Development and Housing from Jörn Walter.
